Short tale: Princess Tania’s Hair

In a far away kingdom lived a very vain princess named Tania, she always felt the most beautiful of all and took great care of her beautiful hair so that it would always be healthy, long and beautiful. Every day when the princess’s hair fell out a little, she was very angry with all her servants and blamed them for this; however, the servants tried to explain to her that this was something normal and that it happened to all of us.

Princess Tania, always worried about her beauty and her long hair, had little concern for love and the real things in life. Her way of being had left her without friends and almost no one in the kingdom could stand her. One day the princess saw how everyone was having fun and no one dared to invite her, she continued to comb her hair and a few tears fell because in the midst of it all she felt very empty.

One day in the kingdom a ball was organized with all the villagers and princes from other places. The princess was the most beautiful at the party and her beautiful hair shone as she passed by. However, everyone was on their guard because Princess Tania’s manner was being spoken ill of and no one would want to dance with her.

That night she was very sad contemplating her beautiful hair and felt that she was the most beautiful and no one was worthy of her. Suddenly a handsome prince approached her and asked her to dance as no other had dared; this simple detail enchanted the princess and for the first time she felt in love with someone.

Princess Tania talked to the prince about her hair all night and he didn’t seem bothered. However before everyone left, he spoke to her about love and coming back, but on the condition that she cut her hair.

The princess felt very sad because she wanted very much to be the prince’s new wife, but at the same time she loved her hair. Of course the prince did not want to ruin her hair, he just wanted to make the princess understand that love is greater than anything else.

The day the prince returned, the princess in love got rid of her hair and moved to the new kingdom with him. She thought she was no longer beautiful, but the prince made her understand that appearance does not preclude feeling and that he had fallen in love with her and not her hair.

Princess Tania stopped being so vain and from that day on she began to be very happy with a humble spirit and enjoying the great things in life, such as love, humility and being surrounded by people who loved her.
