Mario and Luigi return to Brooklyn using the same pipe through which they arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom. As they leave the abandoned building, they meet Spike, their former boss, who complains to them for taking so long to fix the leak. Mario and Luigi show him the necklace with the star and tell him that they had an incredible adventure in another world. Spike doesn’t believe them and mocks them.

Mario and Luigi smile and look up at the sky, where they see a mushroom cloud.
